Webinar overview

Stop overwhelm by transforming how you structure complex VET content.

VET qualifications can overwhelm even motivated learners. When we try to cover everything at once, learners struggle, confidence drops, and completion rates suffer. Understanding how the brain processes complex information changes everything about how we structure learning journeys.

Join us as we apply cognitive load theory to VET contexts. You’ll learn strategies for breaking down intimidating content and building learner confidence through carefully sequenced wins, regardless of the delivery mode.

By the end of this session participants should be able to:

  • Apply cognitive load theory to competency-heavy training
  • Design progressive complexity pathways
  • Chunk complex units effectively
  • Build learner confidence through strategic sequencing
  • Identify simple ways to manage cognitive load in learning resources.

Key topics covered

  • Cognitive load in mandatory VET training
  • Why compliance training often overwhelms
  • Designing learning to manage cognitive load
  • Theory vs practical balance
  • Accessibility across media type
  • Creating early wins that sustain motivation.
